Now that it\u2019s been confirmed that Kate Middleton\u2019s former stylist Natasha Archer found (some) inspiration <\/a>for the Princess of Wales\u2019 fashions in Meghan Markle, there\u2019s apparently another royal who is also falling in the Duchess of Sussex\u2019s style footsteps.<\/p>\n

It seems that Princess Eugenie is finding California cool to be more to her liking than the usual \u201cEuropean summer\u201d fare, according to the Royal Fashion Police<\/a> Substack, via the Daily Mail.<\/a> Instead of \u201cflorals, pastels and classic English countryside styling,\u201d Princess Eugenie is favoring clothing that is \u201cunmistakably Californian.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAt public engagements, from Royal Ascot to more casual daytime visits, she\u2019s shifted towards a wardrobe of earthy, neutral tones \u2013 olive, taupe, cream and sand,\u201d the publication wrote. \u201cThe palette calls to mind Meghan\u2019s now-iconic \u201950 shades of beige,\u2019 a soft, minimalist style<\/a> that became her signature from her Sussex days through to her life on the west coast.\u201d<\/p>\n

The blog described it as a \u201cquieter kind of elegance, one that prioritizes ease and polish over ornament\u201d \u2014 fans know that \u201cit\u2019s a style that Meghan has long championed: clean lines, refined cuts and a sense of quiet confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the Duchess of Sussex was a working member of the royal family, the press dubbed her impact on fashion as the \u201cMeghan Effect\u201d \u2014 her breezy sense of style sent shockwaves through the classic wardrobe traditions. In an August 2024 interview with The New York Times<\/a>, Meghan acknowledged her influence in the fashion world.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cTimes where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven\u2019t gotten the attention that they should be getting,\u201d she continued. \u201cThat\u2019s one of the most powerful things that I\u2019m able to do, and that\u2019s simply wearing, like, an earring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, that impact is spreading through the royal family as they look to modernize the monarchy. It makes sense that Meghan might influence Eugenie\u2019s style, especially since their close-knit bond carries from California to the Sussexes\u2019 new home in Portugal<\/a> near Harry\u2019s royal cousin. That breezy style will come in handy along the European coastline.<\/p>\n
