{"id":338056,"date":"2025-08-12T09:12:38","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T09:12:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/338056\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T09:12:38","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T09:12:38","slug":"a-listed-glasgow-church-to-be-transformed-heres-the-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/338056\/","title":{"rendered":"A-listed Glasgow church to be transformed &#8211; here&#8217;s the plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Hyndland Parish Church could become a\u00a0multi-purpose community hall with a bar, a\u00a0restaurant, a mezzanine and more.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Applicant\u00a0G12 Holdings Limited said it is &#8220;passionate about the vibrant history and beauty of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/property\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">property<\/a>&#8221; and\u00a0applied to change the use of the building in order to extend its life.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  If successful, the new community hall would be adapted as needed by the community and the general public.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The new space would be a vibrant cultural hub, open seven days a week to &#8220;visit and enjoy its historical features and ambience&#8221;.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  This would include a cafe and restaurant called The Kingsborough.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It would also be a space for\u00a0choir recitals, performing arts, as well as exhibitions for the visual arts and conferences.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Documents state: &#8220;We want to provide an exciting new facility, which will allow a wider community to engage and understand more about the building and appreciate the unique collection of stained glass contained within the church.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The layout of the new hub would contain a bar, a kitchen, private dining facilities, exhibition space and more.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Care would also be taken to make the historic site accessible.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>A-listed Glasgow church to be transformed &#8211; here&#8217;s the plan (Image: Sourced)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>(Image: Sourced)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <strong>READ NEXT:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/25347658.glasgows-river-clyde-waterfront-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Here&#8217;s how a &#8216;once-in-a-generation&#8217; plan could change Glasgow&#8217;s waterfront<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Papers added: &#8220;The building most recently known as the Kingsborough Sanctuary is an A-Listed, Neo-Gothic church building designed by Glasgow Architect William Leiper in 1885 and completed in 1887.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;The building was used by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/church-of-scotland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Church of Scotland<\/a> until 2017, for church services, community concerts, local community groups and the creative industries.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;Due to declining church attendance, the congregations of both Broomhill and Hyndland united with Broomhill church chosen as the centre of worship.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The site was refurbished in the 90s but there are concerns about its current state, especially due to water ingress.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/news\/25158943.glasgow-city-council-news-interviews-updates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow City Council<\/a> planning officials are reviewing the application and a decision is expected by Friday, September 5.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hyndland Parish Church could become a\u00a0multi-purpose community hall with a bar, a\u00a0restaurant, a mezzanine and more.
