Jack Black<\/a> has not only beaten his own UK solo record but he has also set a new record for the shortest song ever to chart<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Steve\u2019s Lava Chicken from the Minecraft<\/a> Movie has officially entered the UK Top 40 thanks to the film\u2019s popularity.<\/p>\n

While it has been slammed by critics, the film smashed box office records and enjoyed one of the biggest-grossing weekends of 2025 so far. <\/p>\n

It has encouraged a disturbing trend in cinemas<\/a>, which sees fans scream and throw popcorn<\/a> at certain lines such as \u2018chicken jockey\u2019.<\/p>\n

The popularity of the movie has clearly leaked across into viewers\u2019 everyday listening habits as Jack, 55, secures a chart record.<\/p>\n

At just 34 seconds long, Steve\u2019s Lava Chicken is the shortest song ever to chart in the Top 40, beating the previous record holder, Jonny Trunk and Wisbey, by just two seconds.<\/p>\n

Their track The Ladies\u2019 Bras peaked at number 27 in 2007 and at 36 seconds managed to keep the title of shortest charting song for almost 20 years.<\/p>\n

Steve\u2019s Lava Chicken has also beaten the Ladies\u2019 Bras\u2019 peak chart position as it climbs to number 26.<\/p>\n

This also makes it Jack\u2019s highest charting solo song ever in the UK, one-upping his previous soundtrack hit, Peaches, from 2023\u2019s The Super Mario Bros<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has previously also had chart hits as one half of Tenacious D<\/a>, with partner Kyle Gass.<\/p>\n

Wonderboy, released in 2002, peaked at 34, while cult classic Tribute from 2012 couldn\u2019t even crack the top 75, limping along at 84.<\/p>\n

2006\u2019s POD remains his highest ever UK charting song, which peaked at 24 \u2014 maybe by next week, Steve\u2019s Lava Chicken will have climbed those two places. <\/p>\n

\u2018I just heard that Steve\u2019s Lava Chicken has cracked the UK Top 40,\u2019 said Jack in a statement to Official Charts. <\/p>\n

\u2018I want to send big love to all the Minecraft fans for getting us up there \u2013 it\u2019s insane! Love you!\u2019<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear how long the Minecraft Movie hype will continue, as cinemas continue to clamp down on unruly behaviour.<\/p>\n

The blockbuster<\/a>, which is a big screen adaptation of\u00a0the 2011 3D sandbox video game, managed to rake in a massive $301million (\u00a3234m) globally during its first three days on release, far beyond even hopeful projections.<\/p>\n

It earned $157m (\u00a3122m) in the\u00a0US<\/a>, where analysts had predicted it to manage somewhere between $70m \u2013 $90m (\u00a354.5m \u2013 \u00a370m) according to\u00a0Variety<\/a>, and then added $144m (\u00a3112m) from international territories to make its enviable total.<\/p>\n

A Minecraft Movie\u2019s plot follows four misfits \u2013 Garrett \u2018The Garbage Man\u2019 Garrison (Jason Momoa<\/a>), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) \u2013 as they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.<\/p>\n

To get back home, they\u2019ll have to master this world while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Jack).\u00a0<\/p>\n
