{"id":338725,"date":"2025-08-12T15:05:16","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T15:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/338725\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T15:05:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T15:05:16","slug":"liverpool-festival-garden-homes-plan-could-include-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/338725\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool Festival Garden homes plan could include school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In November 2006 plans were put forward for more than 1,000 new homes around the cleared festival hall dome area, as well as the restoration of the original ornamental gardens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The gardens were restored in 2012, but the housing scheme did not materialise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In 2017 Liverpool City Council took back control of the site and in 2018 appointed new developers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Because the land was used as a waste dump before the Garden Festival, the site needed to be cleaned up. The work was completed in 2023.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The council said it was the biggest remediation project in Europe, with more than \u00a353m invested by the council, Homes England and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The authority went out to tender for developers again in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Small said the development would be the next piece in Liverpool&#8217;s waterfront masterplan. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We have an iconic waterfront which is globally recognised, but there&#8217;s so much more we can do,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Urban Splash and igloo Regeneration are the two companies chosen to work with the council. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A plan to form a joint venture company with the two firms is set to be put forward for approval in September. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"In November 2006 plans were put forward for more than 1,000 new homes around the cleared festival hall&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":338726,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[8815],"tags":[748,393,4884,179,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-338725","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-liverpool","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-liverpool","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115016415746185103","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/338725","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=338725"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/338725\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/338726"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=338725"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=338725"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=338725"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
