\n According to Provost Mary Montague, the mast in Carnwadric Road,\u00a0Thornliebank, was installed in May 2023 by H3G in apparently the wrong location, but the installers “refused to rectify this”.\n<\/p>\n
\n She says ownership of the mast has changed hands and the new owners Cellnex are “at least appearing to be willing to try and sort it out”.\n<\/p>\n
\n In the meantime, however, those living in the vicinity have had to endure what they call \u201ca monstrosity\u201d as the immediate view from their front windows.\n<\/p>\n

\n “No formal planning permission is needed for installing masts, but companies do need to notify the council of their intentions and agree to a suitable location.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Whilst the council does have enforcement powers, the process can be lengthy.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Recent graffiti on the mast has increased local anger and frustration.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Residents are therefore making a public plea for immediate action.”\n<\/p>\n
\n One flat owner, Fareada Dar, said the value of her property is now “basically next to nothing”\u00a0due to the mast.\n<\/p>\n
\n She said: “Nobody wants that view outside their home.\n<\/p>\n
\n “There\u2019s also concern about health and safety because the mast is so close to homes,\u00a0especially for children.”\n<\/p>\n

\n Another resident, who asked not to be named, said the graffiti now on the mast just \u201cadds insult to injury\u201d and is \u201cbringing the area down\u201d.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cThis monstrosity right in front of our windows and blocking our view has been going on for more than two years,\u201d they added. \u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cEnough is enough.\u00a0The original mast installers have shirked their responsibility and think they\u2019ve got away with it. \u00a0\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cI feel that the council planning department could have done more to force its removal but we value the efforts of Provost\u00a0Mary\u00a0Montague\u00a0on our behalf.\u201d\n<\/p>\n
\n H3G declined to comment.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
