The National Theatre in London has cancelled the first two scheduled preview performances for Here We Are<\/strong><\/a>, Stephen Sondheim\u2019s last musical.<\/p>\n

Here We Are is now scheduled to play at the National Theatre from 25 April, booking until 28 June 2025.<\/p>\n

Ticket holders for the cancelled performances on 23 and 24 April will be contacted by their point of purchase.<\/p>\n

The production first played at The Shed in New York last year, directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Joe Mantello (Wicked, Assassins), who also directs this UK premiere production.<\/p>\n

The show boasts a great cast, including Tracie Bennett<\/strong><\/a> (Follies) and Denis O\u2019Hare<\/a><\/strong> (American Horror Story), who are reprising their roles from the original Broadway production; alongside Rory Kinnear<\/a><\/strong> (No Time to Die), Chumisa Dornford-May<\/a><\/strong> (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Jesse Tyler Ferguson<\/a><\/strong> (Modern Family), Richard Fleeshman<\/a><\/strong> (Company), Harry Hadden-Paton<\/a><\/strong> (Downton Abbey), Cameron Johnson<\/strong> (Guys & Dolls), Jane Krakowski<\/a><\/strong> (30 Rock), Martha Plimpton<\/a><\/strong> (Sweat), and Paulo Szot<\/strong> (South Pacific).<\/p>\n

Additional cast includes Edward Baker-Duly<\/strong> (Emmerdale, West Side Story), Alastair Brookshaw<\/strong> (Sunday in the Park with George, Into The Woods<\/a>), Jack Butterworth<\/a><\/strong> (Kiss Me, Kate), Molly Lynch<\/strong> (My Fair Lady, Carousel, Sunset Boulevard), Amira Matthews<\/strong> (Roald Dahl\u2019s The Witches, Evita<\/a>, Merrily We Roll Along) and Steven Serlin<\/strong> (Amour, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).<\/p>\n

Here We Are has music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (Follies, Sweeney Todd) and a book by Tony Award-nominee David Ives (All in the Timing, Venus in Fur). The show is inspired by two of Luis Bu\u00f1uel\u2019s iconic films and follows a group of guests who are unable to leave a dinner party.<\/p>\n

Director Joe Mantello is joined in the creative team by set and costume designer David Zinn, choreographer Sam Pinkleton, orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, additional arrangements Alexander Gemignani, conductor Nigel Lilley, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Tom Gibbons and casting director Bryony Jarvis-Taylor.<\/p>\n

Here We Are is playing in the Lyttelton theatre at the National Theatre from 25 April to 28 June 2025.<\/p>\n
