Google hasn\u2019t indicated that it would sell Chrome at any price, and so far, the court hasn\u2019t ordered a sale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Perplexity spokesperson Jesse Dwyer confirmed to The Verge that the WSJ\u2019s reporting is accurate. The startup\u2019s bid for Chrome stands in stark contrast to the startup\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-07-17\/ai-startup-perplexity-valued-at-18-billion-with-new-funding\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">valuation of about $18 billion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Dmitry Shevelenko, Perplexity\u2019s chief business officer, told Bloomberg that \u201cmultiple large investment funds have agreed to finance the transaction in full.\u201d A spokesperson for the startup also told Bloomberg that Perplexity would invest more than $3 billion in Chrome and Chromium over the next two years if Google accepts the deal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The startup also offered to buy TikTok earlier this year.
