ITV <\/a>has announced a major shake-up as one of its channels will soon be axed. The broadcaster has revealed that its ITVBe channel will close in June 2025.<\/p>\n

ITVBe is a lifestyle and entertainment channel<\/a>, showing content from the UK and US. Shows mainly feature real lives and real people – some of the original British commissions include ‘Billie & Greg: The Family Diaries’ which follows the lives of two young mums and ‘Dinner Date’ which is long-running dating entertainment series.<\/p>\n

The channel will be replaced by a new channel focusing on quiz and game shows. People have been able to tune into ITVBe since it first launched over a decade ago, in 2014. It has been home to some of ITV’s reality and unscripted programmes<\/a> such as The Only Way is Essex and the Real Housewives franchise.<\/p>\n

The programmes shown on ITVBe will be taken on by ITV2, the broadcaster said. It has not been announced which programmes will populate the schedule for ITV<\/a> Quiz.<\/p>\n

However, the network said it planned to use the channel slot to “draw on ITV’s popular, market-leading UK quiz and game shows”. Some of the shows currently aired by ITV include The Chase, Tipping Point and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.<\/p>\n

ITV2 is the channel brand aimed at younger people. ITV says: “From award-winning commissions to American acquisitions, we aim to deliver quality content to a young 16-34 audience, be that in the linear space or, increasingly, via ITV’s free streaming service- ITVX.<\/p>\n

“We’re the number one digital channel for under 35s. At our best, we serve a mainstream, young group of viewers with unique content that wouldn’t necessarily be found elsewhere.”<\/p>\n

They added: “Commissions are really important to ITV2. They often drive reputation and can certainly define the tone of the channel. Whether on-demand or on the linear channel, most of our original content is post-watershed which allows a greater degree of creative freedom.”<\/p>\n

ITV2 programmes include Love Island and Big Brother.
