{"id":339935,"date":"2025-08-13T01:43:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T01:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/339935\/"},"modified":"2025-08-13T01:43:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T01:43:22","slug":"blank-street-coffee-application-for-leeds-city-centre-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/339935\/","title":{"rendered":"Blank Street Coffee: Application for Leeds city centre site"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n  Blank Street Coffee is seeking planning permission to convert \u00a0Grade II-listed 48 Albion Street into new premises.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The ornate 19th-century stone building was occupied by Starbucks until May this year.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Leeds City Council is considering a listed building application for an internal fit-out, new air conditioning, and signage outside.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Blank Street Coffee said historic features of the building, part of the City Centre Conservation Area, would be preserved.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  A heritage report said: \u201cThe proposal has minimal negative impact on the existing building, contributing positively to its heritage significance.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u201cAny harm is outweighed by the public benefits, including the long-term use of the building as office premises and offering food and drink services.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The site, also known as Moorlands House, was constructed in 1855\u00a0and was used as offices by the Yorkshire Assurance Company.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It features the work of master sculptor Catherine Mawer, who is commemorated\u00a0with a blue plaque on the outside of the building.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The report said: \u201cTransforming the vacant space into a new coffee shop aims to breathe new life into the building and community.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  \u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Blank Street Coffee is seeking planning permission to convert \u00a0Grade II-listed 48 Albion Street into new premises.
