Militarie Gun<\/a> have announced\u00a0God Save the Gun, their sophomore album, out on October 17th via Loma Vista. They\u2019ve also revealed \u201cB A D I D E A,\u201d the new album\u2019s latest single, and added a new stretch of 2025 tour dates.<\/p>\n

God Save the Gun\u00a0finds the Ian Shelton-led rock quintet meditating on addiction, self-destruction, and self-belief. \u201cI\u2019m well aware that being this vulnerable turns my personal trauma into a marketing hook for this album, but I\u2019m fine with it, if not provoking it,\u201d Shelton said in a press release. \u201cOver the past couple years, as I spoke about addiction from the perspective of someone affected by it, I became the one struggling with it. There\u2019s a farcical logic to entering a situation, fully knowing the consequences, and doing it anyway \u2013 but that\u2019s where my head was when I started leaning on drinking.\u201d<\/p>\n

They\u2019ll be supporting\u00a0God Save the Gun with a fall US tour taking place across the west coast. After the band plays Riot Fest<\/a> in Chicago, their headlining run kicks off a few days later in Oxnard, California on September 24th. They\u2019ll continue on through cities like Oakland, Sacramento, Tacoma, Portland, and Salt Lake City before concluding the tour in Fort Collins, Colorado on October 5th. \u201cB A D I D E A\u201d is the band\u2019s latest offering from\u00a0God Save the Gun, and it epitomizes the band\u2019s hardcore-meets-power pop approach. Shelton barks out his verses with enthusiasm as the band slowly begins brightening their sound; when they hit the chorus, Shelton spells out the song\u2019s title and concludes \u201cYou\u2019ll never get it\/ So just forget it.\u201d \u201cB A D I D E A\u201d also arrives with a video directed by Shelton himself, where he and the band celebrate their vices; they fight, run, mosh, and dance. God Save the Gun follows the Los Angeles group\u2019s lauded debut album, 2023\u2019s Life Under the Gun<\/a>. The band, who landed on our 2024 list of artists to watch<\/a>, returned last year for a reimagined EP Life Under the Sun<\/a> and the singles \u201cGun Under the Gun (MFG)\u201d<\/a> and \u201cI Thought You Were Waving.\u201d<\/a> They also reprised their \u201cPressure Cooker\u201d collaboration with Dazy this year, offering the new song \u201cTall People Don\u2019t Live Long\u201d back in April.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
