{"id":340594,"date":"2025-08-13T07:44:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T07:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/340594\/"},"modified":"2025-08-13T07:44:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T07:44:12","slug":"calling-all-learner-drivers-new-theory-test-questions-on-the-way-uk-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/340594\/","title":{"rendered":"Calling all learner drivers &#8211; new theory test questions on the way | UK News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Learner drivers will now be quizzed on their life-saving CPR skills when taking their theory tests.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new questions on CPR and defibrillators will be added to theory tests from early next year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Part of being a safe and responsible driver is knowing what to do in an emergency &#8211; how to step in and make a real, life-saving difference,&#8221; said Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) chief driving examiner Mark Winn.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Learning CPR and how to use a defibrillator is a very simple skill.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More than 40,000 people in the UK suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year and motorists are often first on the scene, according to the DVSA.<\/p>\n<p>However, fewer than one in 10 people survive.<\/p>\n<p>If CPR is given and a defibrillator used within three to five minutes of collapse, though, survival rates can be as high as 70%.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Life-saving&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A father whose 24-year-old daughter died in 2017 from complications following a cardiac arrest led the calls for this change.<\/p>\n<p>          <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"sdc-article-image__item\" loading=\"lazy\" intrinsicsize=\"768x432\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/skynews-len-nokes-save-a-life-cymru_6989522.jpg\"   alt=\"Len Nokes with daughter Claire, who died in 2017 following a cardiac arrest.
