The Oceanic Awards shine a spotlight on the \u201cremarkable talents and dedication of individuals and establishments within the curry industry\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">This year was no different with the finalists <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">representing the \u201ccr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me\u201d<\/a>, showcasing the unrivalled skills and creativity of<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> chefs, restaurateurs, and takeaway services<\/a> across the nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The winners of the awards were announced at a ceremony on Monday, August 11 at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham. The night saw the nation\u2019s curry connoisseurs gather to recognise and applaud the exceptional achievements of the curry sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">One <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/waterloo\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Waterloo<\/a> venue however came out head and shoulders above the rest. Da Mount Gurkha beat competition from the likes of Ikkayees Indian Restaurant, Sultan\u2019s Palace and Holdi Bar to be named the best curry house in Liverpool.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755076875_37_0_08082025GeetaBhandari.jpg\" alt=\"Husband and wife Laxman and Geeta Bhandari\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Husband and wife Laxman and Geeta Bhandari(Image: Geeta Bhandari)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The curry house first opened back in 2015 and has gone on to establish itself as a local institution, with customers travelling from miles around to dine there. It is run by husband and wife Laxman and Geeta Bhandari, who live in<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/crosby\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Crosby<\/a>. While 49-year-old Laxman oversees the kitchen, Geeta, 43, is the head of operations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The mum and dad previously<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> told the ECHO<\/a> what it would mean for them to win. They said: \u201cWe were so shocked to find out about the nomination. It\u2019s such good news, but it completely took us by surprise. It is very rewarding to have gotten this far; we are very proud. But to win would be so great.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cOur curry is very special and not like any other. It\u2019s fresh with all new ingredients.
