Parts of the country are facing a fourth heatwave of the summer, where highs pass a threshold on three consecutive days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">British Gas says:<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/news\/cost-of-living\/british-gas-issues-warning-millions-32243709\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> \u201cKeep your doors closed.<\/a> If you\u2019re using a fan, closing off unused rooms during the day will keep the house cool in summer by focusing your cooling efforts where you\u2019ll feel them the most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Similarly, opening your doors in the evening will get the air flowing and stop your home feeling stuffy.\u201d Sky News meteorologist Christopher England said the high pressure that brought the warmth of the last few days via the &#8220;heat dome&#8221; effect is moving east, as low pressure moves in towards the west.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/arts-culture-news\/full-list-35-surnames-might-32250258\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">READ MORE Full list of 35 surnames that might reveal royal blood in your family line<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/ms-afternoon-tea-available-5-32240257\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">READ MORE M&amp;S afternoon tea available for \u00a35 in limited time deal &#8211; and you can get it delivered<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Southern Britain can expect temperatures widely into the low 30s then, perhaps exceeding 35C (95F) in places,&#8221; Mr England said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;There&#8217;s around a 10% chance Wales may exceed its August peak temperature of 35.2C recorded at Hawarden on 2 August 1990.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Meteorologist Tom Morgan said there would be a &#8220;North-South split in the weather&#8221; today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He said it would be &#8220;quite cloudy across Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England, the rain tending to come and go, but most persistent in western Scotland&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Met Office&#8217;s o utlook for Thursday to Saturday says: &#8221; Largely dry overnight next few days, although some showers and thunderstorms are possible in Scotland on Thursday. Sunny for many, but clouding over at times in the north.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A 16 August to 25 August outlook adds: &#8220;High pressure is set to dominate the UK by this weekend, bringing fine, dry, and very warm or hot weather with light winds for most, though breezier in the far south.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;After a spell of cooler, cloudy, and murky conditions in the north, especially along coasts, it will turn clearer and warmer here too.
