{"id":34148,"date":"2025-04-19T23:35:10","date_gmt":"2025-04-19T23:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/34148\/"},"modified":"2025-04-19T23:35:10","modified_gmt":"2025-04-19T23:35:10","slug":"maximum-overdrive-star-emilio-estevez-wrote-a-bitchin-sequel-to-the-stephen-king-film","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/34148\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Maximum Overdrive&#8217; Star Emilio Estevez Wrote a &#8220;Bitchin'&#8221; Sequel to the Stephen King Film"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Stephen King<\/strong>\u2018s works have spawned dozens of movies that range from genre-defining classics to cinematic abominations, but the author has only directed one film:<strong> Maximum Overdrive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Based on King\u2019s short story \u201cTrucks\u201d from Night Shift, the notorious film was maligned upon its release in 1986 but has since earned a cult following.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emilio Estevez<\/strong>, who starred in the film as ex-convict turned short-order cook Bill Robinson, recently revealed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/1ZO4oTlFNPh4ChFELNSNcv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Happy Sad Confused<\/strong><\/a> podcast that he recently wrote and pitched a sequel!<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<strong>With the advent of more computer technology and AI and all of that, I started to imagine what a sequel to Maximum Overdrive would look like<\/strong>. And during the [2023 SAG-AFTRA] strike, I wrote one,\u201d the actor divulged, admitting that he does not have the rights to the material.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started page 1, I started an idea, now on I\u2019m on page 10, I\u2019m on page 20, now it\u2019s 50 pages, and I can\u2019t stop. Dino De Laurentiis owns the rights to Maximum Overdrive. I created an insane world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Estevez would reprise his role as Bill. \u201cHe\u2019s got his own diner, he\u2019s got a young daughter, and he\u2019s got his crew, his people. And <strong>Guy Fieri is coming to do \u2018Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives\u2019 on the day the world falls apart and machines turn<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. \u201cIt was a cool idea. <strong>It\u2019s a bitchin\u2019 script, man<\/strong>. And De Laurentiis was like, \u2018Nope. We have the rights to this. <strong>We\u2019re not interested.
