They have silly (and gross) senses of humor leftover from their childhood days and an obsession with girls that\u2019s a precursor to their upcoming adulthood. Immature, yes, but also, easy to embarrass \u2014 and Princess Diana<\/a> apparently knew the best way to tease her son Prince William<\/a> when he was in this stage of life. The late Princess of Wales reportedly gave her eldest child an \u201cembarrassing\u201d birthday cake that was definitely not up to the usual royal standard.<\/p>\n

\n\tDarren McGrady, a former chef to the British royal family<\/a> for 15 years, revealed how cool Princess Diana was as a mom. \u201cWhen I moved to Princess Diana[\u2018s home], it was much more relaxed,\u201d he told Heart Bingo, per Marie Claire<\/a>. Case in point: a boob-shaped birthday cake she gave her son!<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI remember one of Prince William\u2019s birthday cakes,\u201d McGrady told the outlet. \u201cI came into work and opened my refrigerator and there was a large box in there. I opened it, wondering who was using my refrigerator, and there was a large pair of women\u2019s boobs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe got her teenager a boob cake?! It\u2019s so unexpected, and yet, so on brand for Diana.<\/p>\n

\n\tMcGrady continued, \u201cIt was the cake Diana had bought for William. She\u2019d thought he\u2019d find this funny. She loved embarrassing William, and it was a fantastic gift for him. He loved it, it went down really well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWe bet it did! She wins the award for the coolest mom ever. But it wasn\u2019t just about getting a funny cake. Princess Diana also did her best to make sure the boys\u2019 birthdays were normal. \u201cFor the princess and the boys, birthdays were about spending time together,\u201d McGrady explained. \u201cShe made sure that while they had the royal side with all the pomp and pageantry with Charles, they also got the \u2018normal\u2019 life with her. That meant a Saturday night treat was sitting in front of the television eating hamburgers and chips. That was a special treat for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is similar to how Prince William\u2019s wife Kate Middleton treats their kids Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, on their birthdays. In a previous interview, Middleton shared on the BBC program, A Berry Royal Christmas with Mary Berry<\/a>, \u201cI love making the cake. It\u2019s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up \u2018til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThey also prioritize low-key, family time. An insider previously told Us Weekly<\/a>, \u201cKate and William have one important rule whenever it\u2019s George, Charlotte and Louis\u2019 birthday \u2013 they clear their schedules and avoid any work calls, unless there\u2019s an emergency, to enable them to give their children their undivided attention.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNow, we\u2019ll just have to see if the current Princess of Wales makes Prince George a boob-shaped cake when he gets a little older!<\/p>\n
