TBR Football understands that Liverpool are close to signing Parma\u2019s Giovanni Leoni, but a deal for Crystal Palace\u2019s Marc Guehi now looks tricky.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Liverpool<\/a> have spent on the likes of Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike this summer after winning the Premier League title.<\/p>\n

Arne Slot<\/a> could still land further signings, though, with defenders now on the radar at Anfield.<\/p>\n

TBR Football<\/strong> reported earlier this week that Liverpool like Marc Guehi<\/a>, who is inside the final year of his Crystal Palace contract.<\/p>\n

TBR Football <\/strong>also exclusively revealed at the start of July that Liverpool were keen on Parma\u2019s Giovanni Leoni<\/a>, and there have been developments on both players.<\/p>\n

Club sources have confirmed to TBR Football<\/strong> that Liverpool have agreed terms with Parma over a deal for defender Leoni, but in turn, their talks with Crystal Palace over Guehi have failed to be as successful.<\/p>\n

We can confirm teenager Leoni has agreed terms on a six-year deal and he is set to head to Merseyside straight away.<\/p>\n

The two clubs did talk about the prospect of Leoni heading back to Parma on loan, but with Guehi looking unlikely to happen at this point, the teenager will move now.<\/p>\n

TBR Football<\/strong> revealed on Wednesday that a \u20ac35million (\u00a330million) deal was close, and now the deal is agreed at that price.<\/p>\n

Should Guehi arrive this month, then Leoni going out on loan is an option that remains open to Liverpool.<\/p>\n

However, Liverpool and Palace are not close in terms of a fee, and as it stands, Guehi is staying put \u2013\u00a0meaning Liverpool need Leoni to bolster their central defensive options.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeoni is a huge talent, Liverpool are delighted to be landing a player they regard as one of the best 18-year-old defenders in the world,\u201d said chief correspondent Graeme Bailey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cLeoni is hugely excited to be joining \u2013 he was open to joining this summer or next and is very happy to be moving now.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool, as it stands, have backed away from a potential Guehi deal, but I am told from club sources don\u2019t rule anything out, and as we have seen with Liverpool in his window, that is a wise way to look at it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Other centre-backs on Liverpool radar<\/strong><\/p>\n

TBR Football<\/strong> understands that Liverpool have other centre-backs in mind<\/a> ahead of the summer transfer deadline.<\/p>\n

Wolfsburg defender Konstantinos Koulierakis is one player Liverpool like, with Everton\u2019s Jarrad Braithwaite also on the radar.<\/p>\n

Club Brugge\u2019s Joel Ordonez is also understood to be a Liverpool target, though he is also wanted by Marseille.<\/p>\n
