{"id":342172,"date":"2025-08-13T21:35:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T21:35:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/342172\/"},"modified":"2025-08-13T21:35:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T21:35:10","slug":"tfl-to-improve-tube-station-safety-with-2m-platform-and-canopy-repairs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/342172\/","title":{"rendered":"TfL to improve Tube station safety with \u00a32m platform and canopy repairs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A number of tube stations across London are to get some repairs and upgrades over the next year or so as Transport for London (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ianvisits.co.uk\/articles\/tag\/tfl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TfL<\/a>) is seeking a maintenance contract.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/clapham-north-station-02-by-ianvisits.jpg\" class=\"lightbox\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-76058\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"1800\" height=\"1000\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/clapham-north-station-02-by-ianvisits.jpg\"\/><\/a>Clapham North station (c) ianVisits<\/p>\n<p>TfL is looking at adding tactile paving at some stations that lack it, and also minor repairs to platforms at other stations that need them.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re also looking to carry out a range of canopy repairs at above-ground stations.<\/p>\n<p>The Staircase Tactiles Remediation Project seeks to install corduroy tactiles at St James\u2019s Park, Paddington, Maida Vale, Acton Town, Kilburn Park, Gloucester Road and Stepney Green tube stations.<\/p>\n<p>Corduroy tactile paving is usually used on the approach to staircases to warn visually impaired people that they are approaching the stairs.<\/p>\n<p>The Timber Canopies project aims to do remedial work at five stations, including Fairlop, Wimbledon Park, Willesden Green, Hammersmith and North Ealing.
