Wayne Rooney<\/a> has told Liverpool<\/a> that signing Alexander Isak<\/a> before the transfer deadline would make them \u2018unstoppable\u2019.<\/p>\n Liverpool\u2019s opening bid for Isak, worth \u00a3110m, was rejected by Newcastle United<\/a>, who continue to insist the striker will not be sold.<\/p>\n But Newcastle may be forced to soften their stance after Isak threatened to go on strike in order to force through a move to Liverpool<\/a>.<\/p>\n Isak is desperate to join the Premier League champions before the summer transfer window closes and is seemingly prepared to at least partly ruin his Newcastle legacy in order to force the move through.<\/p>\n Manchester United and England legend Rooney already rates Liverpool as the \u2018favourites\u2019 to win the Premier League this season but says the signing of Isak would make Arne Slot\u2019s side \u2018unstoppable\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tYour ultimate guide to the football season\t\t\t<\/p>\n In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week \u2013 sign up<\/a>, it’s an open goal.<\/p>\n \u2018I already have Liverpool as the favourites to win the title this year but if Isak comes in, I think they\u2019re going to be unstoppable,\u2019 he said on BBC\u2019s Match of the Day<\/a>. \u2018Look at the quality they\u2019ve got.<\/p>\n \u2018I think a big thing for Liverpool this summer was replacing Trent [Alexander-Arnold] because he created a lot of chances and goals down that side. [Jeremie] Frimpong has got the\u00a0attributes\u00a0to\u00a0do that.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018So yeah, Liverpool look\u00a0strong.\u2019<\/p>\n Liverpool have already spent around \u00a3250m on new signings this summer, bringing in the likes of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Frimpong.<\/p>\n Slot\u2019s side finished ten points clear of second-placed Arsenal last season and begin their title defence on Friday night against Bournemouth.<\/p>\n While the temptation to join Liverpool is clear to see, Isak has handled his transfer situation \u2018so badly\u2019, according to ex-Newcastle boss Alan Pardew.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018The problem is, he\u2019s handled it so badly. He couldn\u2019t have handled it any worse,\u2019 Pardew told talkSPORT<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u2018His agents and advisors have said to him to throw down the tools after serving that great football club, and he\u2019s doing really bad things to hold them to ransom and more or less force a way out.\u2019<\/p>\n Isak has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle since his \u00a362m move from Real Sociedad in 2022.<\/p>\n The 25-year-old was one of the stand-out players in the Premier League last season, helping Eddie Howe\u2019s side qualify for the Champions League and win the Carabao Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n Asked about Isak\u2019s future at St James\u2019 Park last week, Howe said: \u2018I think everything is in play.<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019ve said many times he is contracted to us. He is our player. The club make the decision on his future.<\/p>\n \u2018I don\u2019t know what that will be. Of course I have a preferred outcome.
