Taylor Swift<\/a> has made a rare media appearance on New Heights, the podcast hosted by NFL players Travis and Jason Kelce. At 12:12 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Tuesday, April 12, she announced her new album, The Life of a Showgirl<\/a>, in a clip<\/a> from the episode. During its premiere tonight (Wednesday, August 13), she revealed<\/a> the album\u2019s cover art, release date, and tracklist, which includes a guest appearance from Sabrina Carpenter<\/a> on the title track. \u201cAnd, baby, that\u2019s show business for you. New album The Life of a Showgirl. Out October 3,\u201d Swift wrote on social<\/a> media<\/a>. Recorded during the Eras Tour<\/a>, her 12th studio album will follow last year\u2019s The Tortured Poets Department<\/a> and its extended edition, The Anthology<\/a>. Swift produced the record alongside Max Martin and Shellback, the Swedish songwriting team behind some of her biggest hits including \u201c22,\u201d \u201cBlank Space,\u201d and \u201cI Knew You Were Trouble.\u201d \u201cThe three of us have made some of my favorite songs that I\u2019ve ever done before,\u201d she told the Kelce brothers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was on tour in Stockholm, I had Max Martin come out to the show,\u201d Swift added, \u201cand I was talking to him, and I was just like, \u2018I feel like we could knock it out of the park if we went back in.\u2019\u201d She confirmed that The Life of a Showgirl features no producers other than Martin and Shellback, meaning that Jack Antonoff<\/a>\u2014who played a prominent role on every Swift album from 2019\u2019s Lover<\/a> through The Tortured Poets Department\u2014and the National<\/a>\u2019s Aaron Dessner<\/a> are not involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,\u201d Swift said on the podcast. \u201cIt just comes from like the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life. And so that effervescence has come through on this record.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cWith Tortured Poets Department, I was like, \u2018Here\u2019s a data dump of everything I thought and felt in two or three years. Here\u2019s 31 songs.\u2019 This is 12. There\u2019s not a 13th, there\u2019s no other ones coming. This is the record I\u2019ve been wanting to make for a very long time\u2026Every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons, you know, and you couldn\u2019t take one out, and it\u2019d be the same album. You couldn\u2019t add one. It\u2019s just right.\u201d<\/p>\n
