A city centre bar that\u2019s been a favourite for decades is relaunching this weekend as a traditional pub \u2013 with a \u2018tweak\u2019 on the traditional!<\/p>\n

Peacock in Seel Street has been re-invented as the Crooked Crown after a major refurbishment that increased its size.<\/p>\n

The new venue will have the look and feel of a classic pub to reflect the changes in the city\u2019s hospitality scene, with more people opting for venues with more of a \u2018local\u2019 vibe.<\/p>\n

But like all things Scouse, it will cock a snook at your average inn, going for a \u2018pubby atmosphere with character\u2019 and reflecting that feel in the artwork and offerings.
Owners Pub Invest Group, Liverpool\u2019s largest independent leisure group, purchased a former solicitors\u2019 office next door to Peacock to create the new Crooked Crown which forms part of St Peter\u2019s Square.<\/p>\n

The two-storey interior has been styled with dark wooden panelling and furnishings and conventional colours like rich earthy greens and burgundy tones; and the bar has been extended and set back to make the most of the additional floor space.
Pub Invest Group have moved staircases and re-introduced fireplaces which will be roaring away in winter to develop the look of a local right in the heart of the city centre.<\/p>\n

And, as well as the bright, outdoor drinking areas which always gathered the crowds, there\u2019s a new authentic stone patio area accessible from inside the venue.
Cocktails will still be on the menu, but the Crooked Crown will specialise in cask ales, IPAs and lagers sourced where possible from Merseyside-based breweries, and the food menu will focus on typical pub grub but served tapas-style for a fun way to enjoy traditional pub fare!<\/p>\n

As well as live music, Crooked Crown will be hosting all the usual pub quizzes and games and plans to hold other regular events weekly.<\/p>\n

The target audience will be musicians, creatives, and professionals and, referring to its previous incarnation as a popular haunt for students because it offered a cheap and friendly night out.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Pub Invest Group, says: \u201cWe\u2019re not going to throw the baby out with the bath water! We\u2019ll still have a key student night on a Tuesday and upstairs will definitely appeal to a younger crowd who want to dance the night away.<\/p>\n

But people don\u2019t necessarily want to visit just busy clubs and bars as were the mainstay of nightlife in Liverpool for many years, so we\u2019ve
created a pub filled with character and a community vibe, evoking a traditional feel
with a bit of a slant.<\/p>\n

It won\u2019t take itself too seriously, but the Crooked Crown will be warm and cosy, and the sort of place where staff will get to know who you are and you can just relax, unwind, and enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n
