A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries this evening after his car struck a tree. Merseyside Police were called to Northam Close in Southport<\/a> shortly before 5pm today, Wednesday, August 14.<\/p>\n The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where his condition is not thought to be life-threatening. Northam Close and a small section of Seaton Way were closed following the incident, however all roads have now been reopened. Witnesses reported seeing a huge police presence at the scene<\/a> and an air ambulance was spotted landing nearby.<\/p>\n A neighbour described how he “ran down the stairs” after hearing the air ambulance above.<\/p>\n They told the ECHO:<\/a> \u201cI heard the air ambulance land and ran downstairs and out the house.<\/p>\n “I couldn\u2019t see it land but someone said they had to cut down a fence to land. When I got outside I saw the cordon and everyone standing there looking at the car. It\u2019s so awful.”<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Merseyside Police<\/a> said: “Emergency services were called to an incident of a car colliding with a tree on Northam Close, Southport.<\/p>\n “The male in the car sustained serious injuries and has been taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but non-life threatening.<\/p>\n “Road closures were put in place, but all roads have now re-opened.”<\/p>\n Anyone with information on the incident can contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook<\/a> \u2018Merseyside Police Contact Centre\u2019.
