{"id":345039,"date":"2025-08-14T23:06:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T23:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345039\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T23:06:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T23:06:11","slug":"paul-merson-has-now-predicted-the-result-of-leeds-united-v-everton-amid-jack-grealish-arrival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345039\/","title":{"rendered":"Paul Merson has now predicted the result of Leeds United v Everton amid Jack Grealish arrival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Leeds United kick off their return to the Premier League with a home clash against Everton in the first \u2018Monday Night Football\u2019 of the season.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Whites are back in the top flight once again, having suffered relegation from the Premier League back in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Farke\u2019s side missed out on promotion from the Championship in 2024, losing in the play-off final to Southampton.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/topic\/leeds-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds<\/a> were able to push over the line last season, though, securing automatic promotion with 100 points.<\/p>\n<p>Premier League football returns to Elland Road on Monday night, with Everton visiting West Yorkshire for a fascinating encounter to start the season.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GettyImages-2172250670-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Paul Merson attending Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal\" class=\"wp-image-936713\" \/>Photo by James Gill \u2013 Danehouse\/Getty Images<strong>Paul Merson shares Leeds United v Everton prediction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Everton are heading into a first full season under David Moyes, having shown encouraging signs of improvement after the Scot replaced Sean Dyche.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/jack-grealish-says-wayne-rooney-has-inspired-early-everton-decision-ahead-of-leeds-united-clash\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Toffees have added Jack Grealish<\/a> this week, and may throw him into the squad for the trip to Leeds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tbrfootball.com\/paul-merson-shares-confident-jack-grealish-prediction-after-phenomenal-everton-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Merson is backing Grealish for success at Everton<\/a>, and has now shared his prediction for Monday\u2019s clash.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportskeeda.com\/football\/news-paul-merson-predicts-manchester-united-vs-arsenal-premier-league-gw1-fixtures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sportskeeda<\/a>, Merson has again praised Everton\u2019s deal for Grealish, believing that the move to Merseyside will bring out his best form once again.<\/p>\n<p>Merson is backing Everton to claim a 1-0 victory, believing that Leeds will suffer from a \u2018gulf in class\u2019 when the Toffees visit Elland Road.<\/p>\n<p>Merson questions just how Leeds are going to accumulate points if they can\u2019t open the season with a home win, and believes the Whites will struggle to pick up points this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverton have made a great signing in Jack Grealish. He will play with more freedom at Everton, and that could bring the best out of him,\u201d said Merson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeeds will be looking at this fixture as a must-win game, though. Points are going to be in shortage for teams that have come up this season, and like I said before, the opening game is a big leveller for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Leeds are unable to win on home turf this weekend, you cannot help but wonder how they are going to get points week in, week out!<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be a hard game because Everton are a decent team. David Moyes will set them up pretty well for this fixture too. In the end, I believe Everton will have too much for Leeds.
