{"id":345295,"date":"2025-08-15T01:22:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T01:22:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345295\/"},"modified":"2025-08-15T01:22:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T01:22:11","slug":"helmut-marko-has-made-a-max-verstappen-promise-at-red-bull-that-mercedes-could-never-fulfil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345295\/","title":{"rendered":"Helmut Marko has made a Max Verstappen promise at Red Bull that Mercedes could \u2018never\u2019 fulfil"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>If Max Verstappen is going to commit to Red Bull Racing beyond 2026, then Helmut Marko is going to play a key role in those negotiations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the most talked-about storylines during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/formula-1-calendar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2025 Formula 1 season<\/a> has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/tag\/max-verstappen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Max Verstappen\u2019s<\/a> future.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/drivers\/2025-formula-1-driver-contract-wage-expire-hamilton-verstappen-norris-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Verstappen\u2019s contract runs until the end of 2028<\/a>, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/tag\/red-bull-racing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Bull<\/a> were well aware that a performance clause in his deal could have facilitated an early exit this winter.<\/p>\n<p>However, once the Dutchman was guaranteed third in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.f1oversteer.com\/f1-standings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drivers\u2019 championship<\/a> going into the summer break, it would have required a huge bid from a rival team to buy him out of his agreement.<\/p>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"position\">Position<\/td>\n<td class=\"driver\">Drivers&#8217; That will be at least more tricky than now with the clauses in his contract at Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother element is what if he completely doesn\u2019t like the 2026 regulations? I\u2019ve had this conversation with Helmut Marko.
