A horrified couple accidentally ripped off the screen of their brand new smart TV after thinking they were just removing the protective cover.\u00a0<\/p>\n

American TikTokker Kelsey and her husband realised they had made the major mistake as they filmed an unboxing video after moving to Spain<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The lash technician said she expected her new Samsung<\/a> television to come with a\u00a0‘little protective plastic on it that you need to take off’.<\/p>\n

However after the couple started peeling it away, they realised that it left a blank, white screen underneath.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And even more alarmingly all the images and text that had appeared while the plastic was on the screen had now disappeared.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kelsey – who goes by the username @kumalashstudio online – shared footage of the moment she realised what had happened in a now viral TikTok<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘So basically, you know when you get a new TV and there’s a protective plastic on it that you usually take off, well we thought this was the protective plastic,’ she says.<\/p>\n

‘So we started peeling it off and we did not realise that was the actual screen we were peeling off.<\/p>\n

‘Apparently I am not the only person that has done this because I googled it and there are whole threads of people pulling off the screen.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Users on TikTok shared their frustration at what had happened in the comments section of the video.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One wrote: ‘TVs don\u2019t come with the protective plastic screen! Are people ok???’<\/p>\n

Another questioned: ‘There is no protective sticker though.’<\/p>\n

While a third added: ‘What about instructions?’<\/p>\n

A fourth person wrote: ‘You just kept on peeling it off!!! Like why didn\u2019t you just stop when you realised.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, others shared that they had either come close to or had made the same expensive mistake.\u00a0<\/p>\n

One person wrote: ‘I did this exact thing. Not joking. Almost 2 years ago, same Samsung TV. The corner I swear was peeling how could anyone NOT do this.<\/p>\n

Another added:\u00a0 ‘I’ve had customers do this and it\u2019s so painful to tell them they destroyed their TV. What tv comes with a protective film?!? Answer is none.’<\/p>\n

A third quipped: ‘Omg!!! This is 100 per cent something I would do too I mean, you could make glasses out of the screen.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

One user explained that what Kelsey had ripped off was not the whole screen but a polarising film.\u00a0<\/p>\n

They said: ‘This is not the screen. It\u2019s a polarising filter which is used to make sure you\u2019re only seeing like that passes through at a certain direction, to prevent it from looking like a white screen.’<\/p>\n

Kelsey later provided an update, saying Samsung were ‘cool’ about the whole thing, and even offered to replace the TV.<\/p>\n
