{"id":345320,"date":"2025-08-15T01:35:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T01:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345320\/"},"modified":"2025-08-15T01:35:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T01:35:12","slug":"northumberland-observatorys-biggest-leap-forward-with-expansion-into-popular-pub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345320\/","title":{"rendered":"Northumberland observatory&#8217;s &#8216;biggest leap forward&#8217; with expansion into popular pub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kielder Observatory is set to take over residency of the Twice Brewed Inn&#8217;s stargazing venue near to Hadrian&#8217;s Wall<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_Twice-Brewed-KOAS-4-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Northumberland's dark skies projected onto the planetarium at the Twice Brewed Inn\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Northumberland&#8217;s dark skies projected onto the planetarium at the Twice Brewed Inn(Image: Handout)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A Northumberland observatory is set to take its &#8220;biggest leap forward&#8221; by taking over residency of a stargazing venue in the National Park. <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/all-about\/kielder-observatory\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Kielder Observatory <\/a>is set to bring its astronomy experts and events to the Twice Brewed Inn, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/news\/north-east-news\/northumberland-pub-planetarium-attraction-hexham-25907884\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">which is home to a 30-seater planetarium<\/a> and two dozen powerful telescopes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Kielder Observatory has welcomed 250,000 visitors to its remote base since opening in 2008, and hopes to build on the legacy of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/twice-brewed-stargazing-review-northumberland-25836673\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Twice Brewed&#8217;s own stargazing events<\/a>, which have proven incredibly popular in recent years. Leigh Venus, CEO of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/all-about\/kielder-observatory\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Kielder Observatory<\/a>, said that the expansion gives its astronomers &#8220;a new way to share the night sky&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">He added: &#8220;This is the biggest leap forward for Kielder Observatory since we opened back in 2008. The <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/news\/north-east-news\/northumberland-dark-sky-park-anniversary-28227368\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">observatory played a part in bringing protected dark sky status to Northumberland,<\/a> which was granted in 2013.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Its new partnership with the Twice Brewed Inn could drive further astrotourism to one of the best-known areas of Hadrian&#8217;s Wall &#8211; with the Twice Brewed Inn <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chroniclelive.co.uk\/news\/north-east-news\/twice-brewed-sycamore-gap-northumberland-27815175\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">the closest pub to where the Sycamore Gap tree previously stood<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Steve Blair, manager of the Twice Brewed Inn, said: &#8220;This collaboration, linking up with the world-renowned Kielder Observatory, will be a new chapter for Twice Brewed stargazing.
