{"id":345350,"date":"2025-08-15T01:52:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T01:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345350\/"},"modified":"2025-08-15T01:52:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T01:52:13","slug":"jeremy-paxmans-brother-leaves-staggering-fortune-to-family-after-his-death-aged-73","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/345350\/","title":{"rendered":"Jeremy Paxman&#8217;s brother leaves staggering fortune to family after his death aged 73"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"author-section byline-plain\">By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/profile-2201\/olivia-allhusen.html\" class=\"author\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OLIVIA ALLHUSEN, FOREIGN NEWS REPORTER<\/a> <\/p>\n<p class=\"byline-section\"> Published:  20:12 EDT, 14 August 2025   |  Updated:  20:31 EDT, 14 August 2025   <\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Giles Paxman, the diplomat brother of <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/bbc\/index.html\" id=\"mol-36dc67b0-7964-11f0-b924-abd546b06a82\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a> journalist <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/tvshowbiz\/jeremy-paxman\/index.html\" id=\"mol-36a88670-7964-11f0-b924-abd546b06a82\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeremy Paxman<\/a>, left a staggering \u00a32.1 million to his family after his tragic passing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The former UK ambassador to <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/mexico\/index.html\" id=\"mol-36f4f8c0-7964-11f0-b924-abd546b06a82\" rel=\"noopener\">Mexico<\/a> and <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/spain\/index.html\" id=\"mol-36f65850-7964-11f0-b924-abd546b06a82\" rel=\"noopener\">Spain<\/a> died of lung <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/cancer\/index.html\" id=\"mol-36dd7920-7964-11f0-b924-abd546b06a82\" rel=\"noopener\">cancer<\/a> in March, aged 73.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">His will, signed less than a month before his death, states that his estate of \u00a32,096,640 should pass to his French wife Segolene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">The couple, who lived in south-west <a style=\"font-weight: bold;\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/london\/index.html\" id=\"mol-36f48390-7964-11f0-b924-abd546b06a82\" rel=\"noopener\">London<\/a>, have three daughters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">After retiring, keen yachtsman Giles, the second of four siblings, sailed the Atlantic twice and the Pacific once.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">In 2005, Giles was interviewed on BBC Newsnight by his own brother Jeremy about the devastation caused in Mexico by Hurricane Wilma.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Giles and Segolene married in Agen, France, in 1980 and had three daughters &#8211;
