However, there&#8217;s more to the sculptures than initially meets the eye. Hidden symbolic details on the figures of John, Paul, George and Ringo are missed by most, but offer a unique insight into each of their lives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Mike Keating, author of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Secret-Liverpool-Unusual-Guides-People\/dp\/2361953242\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8216;Secret Liverpool &#8211; an unusual guide,&#8217;<\/a> describes the bronze figures as &#8220;hard to miss&#8221; but says tourists&#8217; &#8220;two-dimensional selfies&#8221; often overlook their deeper layers. While clearly a tribute to the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/the-beatles\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Fab Four<\/a>, sculptor Andy Edwards infused each Beatle with subtle, personal details &#8211; small clues to their individual histories and legacies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The statues were inspired by an early photograph of the &#8220;lovable moptops&#8221; that once dominated the window of HMV\u2019s Liverpool ONE store.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Commissioned by sculptor Chris Butler, Edwards spent six months working on the piece, keeping a silent loop of A Hard Day\u2019s Night running in his studio to capture the band\u2019s pre-megastardom energy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755234855_209_0_Hidden-details-of-the-Beatles-statues-at-the-Pier-HeadLiverpoolPic-Andrew-Teebay.jpg\" alt=\"An acorn in the hand of John Lennon.(Pic Andrew Teebay).\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>An acorn in the hand of John Lennon.(Pic Andrew Teebay).(Image: Andrew Teebay Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The line-up on the Pier Head reflects the order the band took on stage before they abandoned touring. Each figure is slightly out of step with the others and carries a totemic feature.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/john-lennon\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">John Lennon<\/a>\u2019s is perhaps the most poignant. In his cupped hand, he holds two acorns, cast from nuts gathered in New York\u2019s Central Park, just a short distance from the Dakota Building where he lived &#8211; and where his life was tragically cut short.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The acorns reference John and Yoko Ono\u2019s late 1960s &#8220;Acorns for Peace&#8221; campaign, in which the couple sent acorns to world leaders as a gesture of unity.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1755234856_86_0_Hidden-details-of-the-Beatles-statues-at-the-Pier-HeadLiverpoolPic-Andrew-Teebay.jpg\" alt=\"Paul McCartney holding a camera.(Pic Andrew Teebay).\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Paul McCartney holding a camera.(Pic Andrew Teebay).(Image: Andrew Teebay Liverpool Echo)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/paul-mccartney\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul McCartney<\/a>\u2019s nod is more romantic. Slung over his shoulder is a camera case, a quiet tribute to his marriage to photographer Linda Eastman, who captured so many moments of his post-Beatles life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/ringo-starr\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Ringo Starr<\/a>\u2019s hidden detail is right under his boot. The sole of his boot carries the inscription \u201cL8\u201d &#8211; the postcode for <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/toxteth\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Toxteth<\/a>, where he was born. Hanging from the back of his coat is a belt etched with Sanskrit verse &#8211; a reflection of his deep connection to Indian culture and his embrace of the Hare Krishna movement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The inscription was inspired by an unusual moment in Edwards\u2019 studio: three local gong players arrived mid-project, one bringing a huge gong from George\u2019s old school. They performed a rendition of the Gayatri Mantra.
