They have distanced themselves from the royal family, many long-time friends, and stopped working with the African charity Harry founded in memory of his mother. However, the couple has had some successes. In particular, it was recently announced that they have renewed their agreement with the streaming service Netflix, but things are not so clear-cut.

In particular, a journalist from the Daily Mail called such information a “master class” in media manipulation.

The journalist recalled that in September 2020, the Duke and Duchess signed a five-year deal to make films for Netflix, reportedly worth $100 million. However, in July 2025, it became known that the streaming service decided not to renew the agreement, citing a lack of interest in their couples as the reason for this decision. However, a few days later, it became known that the couple had signed a new contract with Netflix .

“We are proud to continue our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand,” said Megan.

The media reported this information as Netflix “updating” its agreement with the couple. In particular, speculation that the company would refuse to cooperate with them turned out to be false, which was announced.

As a Daily Mail journalist writes, “the truth turned out to be different.”

“That lucrative 2020 deal, which paid the couple an agreed sum to make films and programmes, was not actually renewed. Instead, the Sussexes were offered an agreement under which Netflix has the right, but not the obligation, to commission any projects from Harry and Meghan. Crucially, I am told, I am told, I am told, will be commissioned. So this much-touted new ‘deal’ may be far less lucrative than it first appears,” writes Richard Eden.

“The announcement is a potentially elegant way for Netflix to cut ties with the Sussexes unless they offer anything interesting and personal, such as their 2022 Harry and Meghan docuseries,” a source tells the Daily Mail.

Also follow “Pryamy” on Facebook , Twitter, Telegram and Instagram.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have had some tough times.
