Shoppers in Manchester city centre were left stunned when a huge swarm of bees descended on a parked bike on Market Street.<\/p>\n

The bike had been left on a bustling street when a \u201ccloud\u201d of the insects suddenly enveloped it.<\/p>\n

The footage was taken on Market Street by Lecia, who almost walked straight into the bike.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was half asleep and hadn\u2019t even had my morning coffee yet,\u201d the 30-year-old content creator told What’s The Jam.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was literally this [very] close to walking straight into a cloud of bees.\u201d<\/p>\n

Startled, Lecia dashed into the nearby Tim Horton\u2019s as the insects continued to gather. She said: \u201cIt was like a proper swarm \u2013 hundreds of bees, and right in the middle of the street.\u201d<\/p>\n

It turned out the bees were swarming around a bag attached to a parked bicycle. Witnesses believe food inside the bag, and possibly even a queen bee, was what attracted the swarm.<\/p>\n

Lecia added: \u201cThe whole thing was wild. They were forming a hive right there in public.\u201d<\/p>\n

It took several hours for professionals in full protective gear to arrive and carefully remove the bike \u2013 and the bees with it.<\/p>\n

Lecia said: \u201cNo one ever figured out whose bike it was. It looked completely abandoned.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a second I thought it was some kind of PR stunt \u2013 especially with the bee being Manchester\u2019s emblem. Honestly so wild.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s the kind of thing you don\u2019t expect to see on a random weekday morning \u2013 but I guess that\u2019s Manchester for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lecia shared clips of the incident that happened earlier this month (2 August) on Instagram account, where it has been viewed over 30,000 times.<\/p>\n

One person commented: \u201cIt’s fine, They can have it, I’ll walk home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGod, I want to be sick,\u201d another person wrote. \u201cShould stop the bike thieves,\u201d joked somebody else.<\/p>\n
