Hugh Grant<\/a> has blasted Border Force officials working at Heathrow Airport after one allegedly asked one of his children if they were travelling with their ‘mum and dad’ – even though the whole family have the same surname in their passports.<\/p>\n

The furious actor, 64, was so horrified that he took to social media to vent about the “intrusive, insulting and creepy” exchange.<\/p>\n

Yesterday evening, Hugh tweeted on X: “Just came through Heathrow with wife and children. We all have the same last name (Grant) on our passports. Immigration officer engages my children in chit chat then whispers to them ‘Are these your Mum and Dad?’ . Intrusive, insulting and creepy.”<\/p>\n

Hugh has been married to Anna Elisabet Eberstein, 42<\/a>, since 2018. They share three children John Mungo, 12, Lulu, eight, and Blue, six. Hugh is also dad to Tabitha Xiao Xi, 13, and Felix Chang Hong, 11, whose mum is his ex partner Tinglan Hong.<\/p>\n

The Home Office, who are responsible for Heathrow’s immigration officials, have been approached for comment.<\/p>\n

Official government guidance reveals that children might be questioned about who they are travelling with, but only under particular circumstances. It states: “If you are travelling with a child (under 18) and are not the child’s parent, or may appear not to be the parent (for example, if you have a different family name), we may ask you a few questions to establish your relationship with the child.<\/p>\n

“We will always do this as quickly as possible and in a way which is sensitive to the interests of the child and the adult involved.”<\/p>\n

The Four Weddings And A Funeral star previously admitted he waited to long to become a dad, adding that fatherhood had given him “heart” and made him a better actor.<\/p>\n

He told The Telegraph: \u201c[But] I had them much too old in life, you know I started when I was 52.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I was a dried-up, middle-aged, golf-addicted Englishman. Then I had children and suddenly I had heart and I had more layers, or something.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, there\u2019s a lot to dread, because I\u2019m old and it\u2019s noisy and it\u2019s unbearable. And I do a lot of hiding in the loo. I do a lot of sleeping in there now. There\u2019s a lock, but they\u2019ve pretty much broken it now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently Hugh surprised fans when he ditched his usual rom com fodder to star in the terrifying flick Heretic.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on his past roles, which include beloved classics Notting Hill and Bridget Jones, the actor told Variety month: “I really appreciate the good ones I did. The Richard Curtis ones are really about pain. It\u2019s something my wife spotted. She\u2019s Swedish; they\u2019re good on pain.<\/p>\n

“She was watching Love Actually, and she said, ‘Everyone\u2019s in pain, and the humour is all a means for dealing with pain.’ That\u2019s what makes them sustain and not float away like a piece of fluff.<\/p>\n

“The Marc Lawrence ones I did are also great because he genuinely loves people and there\u2019s a warmth that I find enchanting. Because I\u2019ve seen the romantic comedies that are slightly put together by committee, and they don\u2019t work as well.”<\/p>\n
