{"id":346898,"date":"2025-08-15T15:49:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T15:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/346898\/"},"modified":"2025-08-15T15:49:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T15:49:12","slug":"six-jailed-for-serious-and-organised-crime-in-edinburgh-and-midlothian-the-nen-north-edinburgh-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/346898\/","title":{"rendered":"Six jailed for serious and organised crime in Edinburgh and Midlothian \u2013 The NEN \u2013 North Edinburgh News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nen.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/high-court-glasgow.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"660\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/high-court-glasgow.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49296\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Six men convicted of serious and organised crime incidents in Edinburgh and Midlothian have been jailed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Michael Heeps, Lee Ridgway, John Murray, Dale Bauld, Damien Mullen and Ryan McGovern, were previously convicted of numerous offences including attempted murder, wilful fire-raising and attempting to pervert the course of justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>At the High Court in Glasgow, today \u2013 Friday, 15 August, 2025, Heeps was jailed for 23 years, Ridgeway for 22 years, Murray (pictured left) for 17 years, Bauld (pictured centre) for 17 years, Mullen for 14 Years and McGovern (pictured right) for eight years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nen.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GANG-VIOLENCE-JAILED.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"549\" height=\"180\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/GANG-VIOLENCE-JAILED.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-211235\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger said: \u201cThe use of violence is always completely unacceptable.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cAlthough these were all targeted attacks, those involved showed absolutely no regard for the communities affected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThese incidents could have had much more serious consequences and this behaviour will not be tolerated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThese sentences show Police Scotland\u2019s commitment to the Serious and Organised Crime Taskforce\u2019s national strategy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI want to make it clear to those intent on being involved in serious and organised crime that we will not give up and you will be brought to justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI would again like to thank officers who worked on this investigation, as well as our partners in forensic services and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal services, for their work.
