Beck, described by the BBC as “Sweden’s most popular crime series”, has jumped up the UK chart with its latest two-part case. <\/p>\n

The series, based on the Martin Beck detective novels by Swedish authors Maj Sj\u00f6wall and Per Wahl\u00f6\u00f6, is number 7 on the BBC’s Most Popular chart today.<\/p>\n

The new season was released on August 9 on the streamer, and includes two feature-length episodes titled Vilhelm and The Invisible Man. It’s the tenth season of the popular Swedish show, which first aired in 1997. <\/p>\n

The new two-episode story has been described as “gritty” (via The Guardian<\/a>), with the plot following a team of detectives investigating a fatal robbery. However, there is more to this case than meets the eye. <\/p>\n

The main cast includes Peter Haber, Jennie Silfverhjelm and Valter Skarsg\u00e5rd, son of movie star Stellan Skarsg\u00e5rd. <\/p>\n

The character of Martin Beck first jumped from the books to the small screen almost three decades ago. The series was acquired by the BBC in 2015. <\/p>\n

Another Swedish mystery thriller, The Truth Will Out, was recently added to a new UK streamer<\/a>. The series, now available on Prime Video, follows Detective Peter Wendel (Robert Gustafsson) and his team as they investigate cold cases and discover new evidence to help an innocent man that was wrongfully convicted.<\/p>\n

The show was acclaimed by viewers, with each season of the crime thriller currently having a perfect audience score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n
