The latest Manchester United transfer news as it was suggested the the young midfielder could be used in a possible swap deal with Brighton.<\/p>\n

Manchester United will not be using midfielder Toby Collyer<\/a> as part of a swap deal with Brighton and Hove Albion for Carlos Baleba this summer, with the youngster joining Championship side West Bromwich Albion on loan.<\/p>\n

United<\/a> are showing interest in Baleba this summer as Ruben Amorim<\/a> looks to strengthen his midfield options. However, Brighton are said to value the player at around \u00a3100 million.<\/p>\n

While United have not given up on completing the signing before the window closes, senior sources concede that a deal is unlikely<\/a> as things stand. United could look to revisit the transfer next year.<\/p>\n

Last week it was suggested that United could try and reduce the asking price by including Collyer in a deal with Brighton. Collyer came up through the youth teams at Brighton before moving to Old Trafford<\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n

However, as reported by the Manchester Evening News<\/a>, a swap deal was not considered by the club. The option has now been taken off the table completely.<\/p>\n

It has been confirmed on Friday that Collyer has joined Championship side West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan<\/a>. He will be available to make his debut for the club this weekend in the Saturday 12.30pm kick-off against Wrexham.<\/p>\n

Speaking about his temporary switch to the Hawthorns, Collyer told the club website: \u201cI spoke with the gaffer Ryan Mason and I got a really good first impression from him.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAlbion seems like the right place and the right environment for me and I\u2019m hoping to play as much as possible. This is a great opportunity for me to help the team and take my game to the next level, which I\u2019m really excited about.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 21-year-old has made 13 first team appearances for United with six of those coming in the Premier League<\/a>. All six league appearances came during last season, with a further four appearances in the Europa League<\/a>.<\/p>\n
