Lewis Capaldi<\/a> has met plenty of famous people over the years and become friendly with a few of them. But in a chat with Capital Breakfast\u2019s Chris Stark on Friday (Aug. 15), the \u201cSomeone You Loved\u201d singer revealed that when he met Justin Bieber at a \u201cswanky\u201d Los Angeles party thrown by Kylie Jenner (he thinks) a while back he was pretty sure the JB had no idea who he was.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd Bieber comes over to me and he\u2019s like, \u2018Hey\u00a0man what\u2019s going on?\u2019 And I\u2019m like \u2018you don\u2019t know who I am, \u2018you don\u2019t know my name,’\u201d Capaldi recalled telling him. \u201cAnd he\u2019s like, \u2018of course I do it\u2019s Lewis Capaldi\u2019\u00a0and me and Bieber have this super night, this really lovely evening together \u2014 we didn\u2019t spend the night together, but we hang out \u2014 and me and the Biebs are going to be best pals, this is huge.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Confident that they were now besties, Capaldi said he was further shocked when Bieber said, \u201c\u2018make sure I get your number tomorrow\u2019\u00a0and I was like, \u2018me and the Biebs this is huge!’\u201d So, Capaldi dutifully texted Bieber a \u201csucking up his a\u2013\u201d message the next day: \u201c\u2018just wanted to jump on Bro, and say last night was so special, great guy, so nice to hang with you, such a dude\u2019\u00a0all this stuff,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n Here\u2019s the thing.<\/p>\n According to Capaldi, Bieber liked the message, but then never replied. \u201cSo if you\u2019re out there Bieber, text me back!,\u201d Capaldi said, admitting, \u201cBieber aired me.\u201d<\/p>\n Capaldi also uncovered the true story behind the legendary \u201clost\u201d song he recorded with Calvin Harris several years ago that has never been released. While Harris had hinted in interviews that it may have gotten accidentally erased from Capaldi\u2019s hard drive, Lewis said the real story is pretty simple: he didn\u2019t like how he sounded.<\/p>\n \u201cMe and Calvin have done a song together, he was in Ibiza the same time as me. I went and recorded a version of it,\u201d Capaldi said of the unnamed track. \u201cHe sent it to me afterwards. I avoid any conflict, avoid letting people down, I\u2019m a people pleaser. I try and please people\u2026 This is the thing, I don\u2019t like the song. I don\u2019t like my version of the song,\u00a0I should say.\u201d<\/p>\n Capaldi said he shared the track with some friends and they agreed with his assessment, but Lewis never reached out to Harris to tell him his feelings about the song. \u201cHe then messages me two months later like, \u2018hate it?\u2019 And I grew up idolizing Calvin Harris, and to tell him I don\u2019t like his song so I just ignored that as well,\u201d Capaldi said. \u201cAnd to this day haven\u2019t replied to him, I have seen him since, and I\u2019d love to do a Calvin Harris song, but he has to sing on it as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Check out Capaldi\u2019s interview below (Bieber talk begins at 8:20 mark).<\/p>\n Best of Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for Billboard’s Newsletter<\/a>.
