True, the very latest models of hearing aids may only be available privately\u00a0(though, like smartphones, I suspect that the upgrades are often minimal).<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Like the private sector, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/nhs\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHS<\/a> provision of hearing aids is also regularly upgraded. The replacement hearing aids I got this\u00a0January provide excellent sound, and are a conduit for all the\u00a0radio and podcast listening I\u00a0need.
