Strines Road<\/p>\nFirefighters are working at the sceneStrines Road<\/p>\n
The main road through a Stockport village has been closed tonight (Saturday). Strines Road, which runs through the middle of Strines, near Marple<\/a>, has been shut due to a fire.<\/p>\n The blaze has broken out next to the Peak Forest Canal.<\/p>\n It involves a ‘storage shed’ Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said.<\/p>\n Firefighters have donned breathing apparatus as they tackle the flames.<\/p>\n A large amount of smoke has been sent billowing across the area.<\/p>\n As a result, the road has been shut whilst crews continue their work. It is not long at this stage how long it will be closed.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for GMFRS said: \u201cJust after 8.30pm this evening (Saturday 19th April), two fire engines from Stockport<\/a> Central and Marple, along with the Command Support Unit from Hyde<\/a>, were called to reports of a fire involving a storage shed at the side of the canal near Strines Road, Marple.<\/p>\n \u201cCrews arrived quickly at the scene.
