A Wirral man has been arrested on suspicion of stalking after a mum and her baby were “filmed in the park.” At 12.13pm a woman called police to say that a man had been following and filming her as she was pushing her baby<\/a> in a pram round Birkenhead Park this afternoon, Friday, August 15.<\/p>\n Officers attended and the suspect, a 34-year-old white British man born on the Wirral<\/a>, was arrested on suspicion of stalking. He has been taken to a police station where he is being questioned<\/a>, police said.<\/p>\n The investigation into the incident is ongoing and CCTV and witness enquiries<\/a> are being carried out.<\/p>\n Police said they are aware ‘there is incorrect information circulating online’ and ‘would urge people not to speculate in relation to this incident.’<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Peter Rexwinkel said: \u201cWe understand the distress and concern experienced by the mother who had taken her baby to Birkenhead<\/a> Park and can reassure the local community that this incident will be thoroughly investigated and we treat all incidents such as this extremely seriously.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you were in the area and saw a man acting suspiciously in Birkenhead Park, or have any information or footage which could assist our investigation, please come forward.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have proactive uniformed and plain clothes patrols in the park and surrounding area to ensure that local community can enjoy the park safely.”<\/p>\n Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook<\/a> \u2018Merseyside Police Contact Centre\u2019.
