{"id":347410,"date":"2025-08-15T20:33:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T20:33:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/347410\/"},"modified":"2025-08-15T20:33:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T20:33:11","slug":"liverpool-vs-bournemouth-live-updates-antoine-semenyo-pulls-a-goal-back-after-ekitike-gakpo-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/347410\/","title":{"rendered":"Liverpool vs Bournemouth live updates: Antoine Semenyo pulls a goal back after Ekitike, Gakpo strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The opening game of the new Premier League season was earlier stopped in the first half after Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo reported being racially abused by someone in the crowd.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Referee Anthony Taylor paused the game to talk to Semenyo as Liverpool prepared to take a corner.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor then jogged to the technical areas to speak to Liverpool manager Arne Slot and his Bournemouth counterpart Andoni Iraola.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor also spoke to both captains, Virgil van Dijk and Adam Smith, before the game resumed around two minutes later. <\/p>\n<p>An anti-discrimination message was then read out to the Anfield crowd once the half-time whistle had blown.<\/p>\n<p>The former Manchester United defender Gary Neville, working as a pundit for the UK broadcaster Sky Sports, said the alleged incident had \u201covershadowed what should be an amazing night\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cIt\u2019s despicable. I can\u2019t even begin to think what will be going through someone\u2019s mind.
