A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder <\/strong>after “gunshots<\/a>” were allegedly fired on a street in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n

Njanko Njie, 25, appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court <\/a>on Friday.<\/p>\n

Njie, of Edinburgh, was charged <\/a>with assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.<\/p>\n

He was also charged with possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a controlled drug.<\/p>\n

He made no plea or declaration.<\/p>\n

He was remanded in custody <\/a>while the case was committed for further examination.<\/p>\n

Njie will be expected to reappear in court<\/a> within the next eight days.<\/p>\n

\"AA large cordon was put in place<\/p>\n

Armed police raced to the Hailesland Gardens area of the capital <\/a>following a report of a firearm being discharged at around 3.40pm on Thursday, July 24.<\/p>\n

Officers attended and a 23-year-old man was found injured.<\/p>\n

He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries sustained<\/a> to his arm.<\/p>\n

No one else was harmed.<\/p>\n

Police previously arrested two men, aged 25 and 36, in connection<\/a>, however, they were both released pending further inquiry.<\/p>\n

Images from the scene <\/a>showed armed cops and uniformed officers standing guard outside the address near the city’s Wester Hailes area.<\/p>\n
