After somewhere with just the right amount of opulence and grandeur? Look no further than Regina\u2019s<\/a><\/strong>. Birmingham\u2019s newest Mediterranean eatery only opened on Newhall Street in March and was instantly celebrated for its \u201cregal dining experience.\u201d<\/strong> Now it\u2019s a finalist among the world\u2019s best food and beverage hotspots.<\/p>\n

The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards<\/strong> has spent the last 17 years celebrating \u201cthe world\u2019s most creative spaces\u201d\u2014from ultra-luxe fine dining to casual hangouts. This year, Regina\u2019s finds itself shortlisted in Europe\u2019s \u2018Standalone\u2019 category<\/strong> for a food and beverage space that\u2019s not part of a chain.<\/p>\n

All entries to The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards are automatically considered for the \u2018Best Restaurant or Bar\u2019 awards<\/strong> for their region, as well as for the ultimate global awards of Best Overall Restaurant and Best Overall Bar. What makes Regina\u2019s so beautiful?<\/b> <\/p>\n

Designed by Tibbatts Abel<\/a>, Regina\u2019s (formerly Purnell\u2019s Bistro and Ginger\u2019s Bar) was completely stripped back to the shell to transform it into a royal dining destination. The aim was to create a \u201cbold statement<\/strong> and rival the dining scene of the already established venues on the neighbouring Colemore Row.\u201d<\/p>\n

So that Regina\u2019s more than lives up to its name, everything from ambient mood lighting to brass detailing, Crittal-style glazing and rich upholstery<\/strong> was used to \u201cresemble an exclusive and luxurious experience.\u201d There\u2019s also a 3.5m-wide 3D flower sculpture<\/strong>, created by renowned artist David Begbie, adorning the bar that you won\u2019t find anywhere else.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, layered ripples in the carved 3D ceiling and bespoke painted murals<\/strong> throughout reflect the Mediterranean cuisine on offer. It\u2019s not why Regina\u2019s is up for an award this time, but its authentic Mediterranean menu\u2014offering everything from tapas, such as arancini, croquettes, and kofta, to freshly-made pasta\u2014is just as important to its success. <\/p>\n
