Then on Friday, it was announced that Dominic Calvert-Lewin has signed for Leeds on a free transfer following his release at Everton at the end of last season.

Now, whether or not the 49ers pay for another new striker remains to be seen. It looks as though Farke is planning on going into the season with Calvert-Lewin as his number one striker, backed up by Joel Piroe, Lukas Nmecha, and potentially youngster Harry Gray.

Whether that remains the case is hard to tell. But Farke can now at least focus on signing a new winger and a new number 10, with a new right-sided player certainly needed before the summer transfer window closes on September 1st.

One such player linked is Juventus’ Nico Gonzalez.

Photo by Valerio Pennicino/Getty ImagesNico Gonzalez update at Juventus as Leeds United court winger

It has been reported in the last week that Leeds United are interested in signing Gonzalez from Juventus. The Argentine international joined Juve from Fiorentina last summer but struggled in his maiden season, featuring 26 times in Serie A but with just three goals and two assists. Now, the Italian giants are looking to shift Gonzalez and reports in Italy now reveal that the player has actually asked to leave the club.

Gazzetta reports that González is unhappy with his current playing position at Juve, which has seen him go from attack into more of a wing-back position. He has now asked the club to sell him and Juventus are willing to do so, having set a £25.9m price tag for the 27-year-old.

However, Leeds United face competition from Atletico Madrid in the race to sign González and right now it looks like Diego Simeone’s side are ahead in this race.

Season

Games (league)

Goals

Assists

2024/25 (Juve)

26

3

2

2023/24 (Fiorentina)

29

12

2

2022/23 (Fiorentina)

24

6

1

2021/22 (Fiorentina)

33

7

6

MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES

Leeds United are trying to sign two Serie A wide men right now

Replacing Manor Solomon’s goals, assists, and overall creativity from last season will be key for Farke in what’s left of the summer transfer window.

And there remains a chance that Solomon returns to Leeds this summer, but it appears as though Farke is casting his net out wide with links to a number of players, including two in the Italian top flight.

Speaking to Leeds United News recently, transfer expert Graeme Bailey discussed Leeds United’s race to sign a new winger with links to Gonzalez and AC Milan’s Noah Okafor.

Bailey explained: “Juventus are desperately trying to move him [Gonzalez] on. They are trying to make room for Jadon Sancho and raise cash to sign him. It is also understood that Milan have received concrete interest in the Swiss international from the likes of Bologna as well as Leeds.

Who eventually arrives at Elland Road remains to be seen, but it looks like we might see a winger arriving next after Calvert-Lewin.

On Friday, Leeds United completed a deal to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer, leaving Daniel Farke…

[8814
748,393,4884,1860,93317,16,15
0":"post-348744","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-leeds","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-leeds","12":"tag-nico-gonzalez","13":"tag-uk","14":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
