{"id":348840,"date":"2025-08-16T09:48:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-16T09:48:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/348840\/"},"modified":"2025-08-16T09:48:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-16T09:48:12","slug":"singer-chike-calls-marriage-a-stupid-step","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/348840\/","title":{"rendered":"Singer Chike Calls Marriage a &#8220;Stupid Step&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nigerian singer and songwriter, Chike Osebuka, says he has no plans to get married at the moment, describing marriage as a \u201cstupid step.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>The 32-year-old artiste, known for his soulful and love-themed songs, made the remark during an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.\n<\/p>\n<p>When asked when he was getting married, he replied that he does not consider marriage a priority.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn my personal opinion, in fact, I think it\u2019s a stupid step to get married, that\u2019s my opinion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Chike, popular for his romantic ballads, also revealed that his happiness is tied to financial stability.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me to be happy, to be honest, I need a lot of money.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not even canal, I won\u2019t lie to you, I like money. I want money,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on his career journey, he said he never envisioned making a living from music until after his university education.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would say maybe right after my university, I knew music is what I\u2019ll do for a living.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t say I knew before, to be honest, because I just used to sing and disturb everybody around me,\u201d Chike said.\n<\/p>\n<p>The singer recounted moments of financial struggle in his early career when he had to take acting jobs to survive.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a tough part, I even had to start acting for like two years,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>On finding success, Chike disclosed that his mother once asked him if he had joined a cult.\n<\/p>\n<p>He also shared his disappointment with some friends who failed to support him when he needed funds to stage a show.<\/p>\n<p>Chike said, \u201cI remenber one time when I was about to do my show, and how much does the entire show cost, I think N400,000, if not less. because a lot of things were favours.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I called the friends I used to hang out with and drink with and, I mean, not, I\u2019m not a drinker, but people I have fun with, and I knew the answer was no.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I just thought that I deserved the respect of telling me that, oh, you don\u2019t have it, or you can\u2019t do it now, or, oh man, I just, I flat out don\u2019t have it.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd with some of them, they just stopped picking my calls, you know, they just stopped.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it was, you know, a female friend of mine still that I went to, and for the first time, you know.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least I was comfortable around her enough to let out a couple of emotions, and I remember I actually cried that day.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd she just looked at me, and she was like, Chike, don\u2019t worry, I\u2019ll give you the money, just go and concentrate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd that was, that\u2019s how I got the money, literally gave me the money.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Chike began his music career in 2015 following his participation in Project Fame.\n<\/p>\n<p>He was the first runner-up on The Voice of Nigeria in 2016 and went on to release Fancy, his debut single, later that same year.\n                                            <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nigerian singer and songwriter, Chike Osebuka, says he has no plans to get married at the moment, describing&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":348841,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3940],"tags":[4080,77,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-348840","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-celebrities","8":"tag-celebrities","9":"tag-entertainment","10":"tag-uk","11":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/115037818523844066","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/348840","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=348840"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/348840\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/348841"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=348840"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=348840"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=348840"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
