This form of hiking, which follows the crest or spine of a mountain or hill, offers walkers panoramic views on both sides and provides an excellent way to boost fitness while soaking up some of the country\u2019s most stunning scenery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Outdoor adventure experts at <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com?id=76202X1529444&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.blacks.co.uk%2F&amp;sref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailyrecord.co.uk%2Fscotland-now%2Fa-35741482\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"BlacksLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Blacks<\/a> have analysed factors such as search popularity and weather to identify the top 10 must-visit ridge walks in Scotland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">At the top of the list is Aonach Eagach in the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/highland-council\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Scottish HighlandsLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Scottish Highlands<\/a>. Walkers are treated to sweeping views of Scottish flora and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/wildlife\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"faunaLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">fauna<\/a> along the way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Despite being searched more than 12,000 times in the past year, reviewers report that the path rarely feels crowded. Third place goes to Carn Mor Dearg Ar\u00eate, another Scottish Highlands favourite.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/0_The_Forcan_Ridge_-_geographorguk_-_2507059.jpg\" alt=\"A picture of Forcan Ridge \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Forcan Ridge ranks second, offering a circular route with 1,000 metres of climb and scenic Highland views.(Image: The Forcan Ridge by\u00a0Nigel Brown, CC BY-SA 2.0 , via Wikimedia Commons)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The route, known for its forests, rivers, and vistas of Ben Nevis, boasts clear skies around 40 per cent of the time, offering walkers reliable visibility for their trek.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Calum Jones, an author and outdoor enthusiast at Blacks, highlighted the appeal of ridge walking while stressing the importance of preparation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cRidge walks can be incredibly rewarding, often revealing views that go on as far as the eye can see at the top of peaks, but it is extremely important to make sure you are well prepared before starting any hike,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cRidge walks come in very different levels of difficulty: from well-paved, relaxed hiking trails that don\u2019t require belaying, to high-grade scrambles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;This makes route planning extremely important.
