Two North London businesses have been shut down over their alleged involvement in a drug operation, according to the local council. The police uncovered illegal substances and weapons after officers raided the premises, leading to several people being arrested.<\/p>\n

The two businesses on Harrow Road<\/a> in Queen\u2019s Park have been issued with closure orders, which will remain in place for a minimum of three months. The enforcement action is part of the local authority\u2019s plan to \u201ccrack down on harmful activities\u201d in town centres, according to Brent Council.<\/p>\n

The raid was carried out following reports of \u201csuspected drug dealing and serious antisocial behaviour\u201d linked to both premises. The council\u2019s Community Safety and Prevention Team then worked alongside the Police\u2019s Safer Neighbourhood Team to secure the legal Closure Order for a mobile phone shop and a caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Police officers had entered the premises after securing search warrants, where they found \u201cillegal substances and weapons\u201d and subsequently made several arrests. The council said it is evidence of the local authority \u201ctaking a strong stance against businesses suspected of being involved in criminal conduct and activities\u201d.<\/p>\n

Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, Jobs, and Skills, Cllr Harbi Farah, said: \u201cBy working closely with the police, Brent Council will pursue any business or individual suspected of criminal activity, all the way to the courts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is just the beginning of our effort to clean-up our high streets. Together with the police, we will protect our communities from harm and create a safer, more welcoming environment for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The businesses can not be named due to legal reasons. The Metropolitan Police were approached for comment but did not respond ahead of publication<\/p>\n
