Two teenage boys are set to appear in court<\/a> following an alleged assault with a weapon in Atherton<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Officers were called out to Gloucester Street following reports of an assault at 5.30pm on Wednesday evening (August 13).<\/p>\n

A 17-year-old boy was allegedly injured in the incident.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> previously said that two boys, aged 15 and 17, had been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

In an update issued today (Saturday), GMP confirmed that the two boys, from Wigan<\/a> borough, have now been charged.<\/p>\n

They were both charged with Section 18 assault and possession of an offensive weapon.<\/p>\n

The pair cannot be named for legal reasons.<\/p>\n

They have been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester and Salford<\/a> Magistrates Court today.<\/p>\n

A GMP spokesperson added: “Officers investigating this incident are still appealing for any further information which could assist.<\/p>\n
