As perhaps expected, Michael Pachter has clarified that he misspoke about Fairgames’<\/a> cancellation.<\/p>\n

I just confirmed with Michael Pachter that he does not know if Fairgames was cancelled. <\/p>\n

As quoted by ex-IGN<\/a> editor Destin Legarie, he said<\/a>: “I misspoke. Said Jade was let go, and assumed it was cancelled. I have no info on the game at all. Feel free to quote this, I truly don\u2019t know.”<\/p>\n

So, Fairgames is, at the present moment, still alive and kicking, then. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll ever actually release.<\/p>\n

Original Story:<\/strong> The web is awash with rumours about Sony pulling the plug on Fairgames<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For those of you who haven\u2019t been following this game \u2013 and, frankly, we don\u2019t blame you if you haven\u2019t \u2013 this is the anti-billionaire co-op shooter from Canadian developer Haven Studio, which was founded by Jade Raymond and purchased by PlayStation a few years ago.<\/p>\n

Of course, Raymond has since left the team, and the project is said to be in turmoil.<\/p>\n

The Japanese giant did pool feedback via a small-scale alpha test recently<\/a>, and it was largely negative, seemingly prompting the management changes at the company.<\/p>\n

The source of the cancellation rumours seems to stem all the way back to an episode of the Pachter Factor<\/a>, featuring notorious industry analyst Michael Pachter, in which he touches on the topic of Sony\u2019s live service push.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey turned all their studios into live service developers,\u201d he says. \u201cBut that resulted in Concord<\/a> being shut down and the developer closed, which then resulted in Jade Raymond being let go and [Fairgames] being cancelled.\u201d<\/p>\n

We think Pachter is just misspeaking here: it sounds like he\u2019s associated Raymond\u2019s departure with the project\u2019s cancellation, which isn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n

In a statement to Bloomberg<\/a> when Raymond departed the developer, a spokesperson for PlayStation said it\u2019s \u201ccommitted to supporting Haven Studios and excited to continue the journey\u201d.<\/p>\n

Now clearly Fairgames isn\u2019t coming together as well as Sony would have liked<\/a>, and it doesn\u2019t seem out of the realm of possibility that it could get cancelled eventually. But as things stand right now, at the time of writing, our understanding is that the game is still in development.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll check with the platform holder, however, and share any updates if we get a response.<\/p>\n
