The Manchester United loanee’s stop to deny Rob Apter’s strike early in the second half was solid, but the one to ensure George Tanner didn’t accidentally steer into his own net was even better. Perhaps his distribution could have been a little better at times.

READ MORE: Bristol City vs Charlton Athletic live: Gerhard Struber names strong side at Ashton GateREAD MORE: Gerhard Struber provides Bristol City transfer latest as Reds boss details ‘very good feeling’Rob Atkinson – 7.5

Having returned to the side after being afforded a much-needed rest against MK Dons, Rob Atkinson was once again impressive both in and out of possession. While the centre-back managed to produce the heavy tackles and win the sort of headers that most associate with him, he also managed to produce a couple of trademark runs forward. Considering it was a late call as to whether or not he would be fit to start, he once again went about his business brilliantly.

Zak Vyner – 7.5

As has become expected of the Bristol City academy graduate, Zak Vyner produced another solid defensive showing to help the Robins to a second consecutive clean sheet. Barring a slight early mix-up with Radek Vitek, the 28-year-old was reliable both on and off the ball, even creating a chance or two. Perhaps should have hit the target when he stabbed goalward from a corner in the second half.

George Tanner (off for Rob Dickie, 72’) – 6.5

It has perhaps gone under the radar just how well George Tanner has performed under Gerhard Struber so far this season. In that deeper role as the right-sided member of Bristol City’s back three, the versatile defender has provided a solid and dependable presence. However, his blushes were saved when Vitek got down well to claw what looks like an almost certain own goal off his line moments before he was replaced by Rob Dickie.

Yu Hirakawa (off for Mark Sykes, 58’) – 6

Once again preferred at left wing-back, Yu Hirakawa ran himself into the ground against Charlton and went about his business well both on and off the ball. On several occasions, he interchanged well with Anis Mehmeti and even forced a save out of Tomas Kaminski when he volleyed goalward in the first half. It made sense to replace him just before the hour mark, just to freshen things up.

Jason Knight – 6.5

Like so many of his teammates, the Bristol City skipper battled throughout the contest and did what he could to forge a breakthrough. Popped up with a couple of important tackles and interceptions, yet didn’t quite manage to carve out that much-needed chance in the final third. His energy was impressive considering that it was his third full 90 in a little over a week.

Adam Randell (off for Max Bird, 58’) – 6

The first 45 minutes at Ashton Gate were probably Adam Randell’s best half, off the ball, as a Bristol City player. In a manner you typically associate with Jason Knight, the former Plymouth Argyle midfielder was seemingly first to every loose ball and produced a couple of smart touches. However, his work on the ball was slightly mixed as he misplaced a fair few passes before being replaced by Max Bird. It should be noted that the Robins missed his energy once he’d made way.

Ross McCrorie – 6

The nature of Saturday afternoon’s game meant that Bristol City fans didn’t quite get to see as much of Ross McCrorie in possession as they have under Struber so far this term. The former Aberdeen man was much involved off the ball, however, as he battled away from both right and left wing-back. Although he didn’t do a lot to stand out, he didn’t do an awful lot wrong either.

Anis Mehmeti – 6

It would be fair to say Anis Mehmeti’s performance was mixed on Saturday afternoon. The winger came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half with a powerful low shot and interchanged well with Yu Hirakawa and Emil Riis, but he was also guilty of taking too long on the ball at times. Came close again after the break when he hit the crossbar from close range with a chance he perhaps would have felt he should have scored with. Should have done more when he broke free on the counter late on.

Scott Twine (off for Sinclair Armstrong, 83’) – 6

Having been Bristol City’s best player at Bramall Lane and one of the stand-out performers against MK Dons, Scott Twine was a bit quieter in the first half against Charlton. Out of possession, he did the dirty work but couldn’t quite find that moment of quality needed to unlock the visitor’s defence. By no means a bad showing, even if he didn’t hit the heights he has already reached this term.

Bristol City Live on Whatsapp

Join Bristol City Live’s Whatsapp community for all the biggest Bristol City stories sent straight to your phone

Bristol City Live is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join our community.

Through the app, we’ll send the Bristol City news, live match coverage, team news, transfers, fixtures, analysis and more straight to your phone.

To join our community you need to already have WhatsApp. All you need to do is click this link and select ‘Join Community’.

No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Bristol Live team.

We also treat community members to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. Where he could, he did well to run the channels and hold the ball up to bring his teammates into the game, but the Robins didn’t manage to find him in the penalty area often enough. He, understandably so, looked knackered when he made way for Fally Mayulu late on.

Substitutes:Max Bird – 6

Offered a more creative outlet alongside Jason Knight in the middle of the park, however, didn’t manage to impact the game in the final third. His free-kick in the final minute was frustrating.

Mark Sykes – 6

Provided an injection of pace on the right flank. Should have been given the chance to secure the win, but Mehmeti couldn’t pick him out on the counter late on.

Rob Dickie – 6

Gave the Robins a greater physical presence late on.

Fally Mayulu – 6

It is good to see the Frenchman involved again and he managed a couple of nice touches.

Sinclair Armstrong – 6

Looked to run in-behind and kept the Charlton backline on their toes.

READ MORE: Max Bird, Joe Williams, Rob Atkinson: Bristol City team news ahead of Charlton Athletic clashREAD MORE: Nathan Jones shares ‘wonderful’ Bristol City verdict ahead of Charlton’s Ashton Gate visit

Bristol Live’s Bristol City player ratings as the Robins were held to a 0-0 draw by Charlton Athletic…

[8818
381,2686,748,393,4884,16,15
0":"post-350212","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-bristol","8":"tag-bristol","9":"tag-bristol-city-fc","10":"tag-britain","11":"tag-england","12":"tag-great-britain","13":"tag-uk","14":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
