Danny Beard grew up in Liverpool but had to move out of the city after having their face “cut open”. The Scouse drag queen will return to TV screens tonight as part of the celebrity edition of BBC’s game show Pointless. The show sees a number of famous faces go up against each other in the ultimate general knowledge test, hosted by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman.<\/a><\/p>\n Danny is no stranger to the cameras as they took part in Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year. Originally from Halewood<\/a>, Danny made it all the way to the final alongside JoJo Siwa, Chris Hughes, Chesney Hawkes, Jack P. Shepherd and Donna Preston.<\/a> But it was Coronation Street’s Jack (David Platt) who took home the crown.<\/p>\n Away from the screen, Danny’s real name is Daniel Curtis and was born in Halewood in May 1992. Danny uses they\/them pronouns, but has shared that they are open to using other terms as well.<\/a><\/p>\n In 2016, Danny auditioned for the tenth series of Britain’s Got Talent<\/a> and got through to the semi-finals. But Danny’s most memorable TV appearance is as part of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.<\/p>\n In 2022, Danny was announced as part of the cast of the fourth series of the popular programme. They were the sixth bearded queen to join the Drag Race franchise, and the first to be judged by RuPaul.<\/p>\n During the series, Danny won four main challenges, becoming the fourth contestant in the history of the show to do so, making it to the final without facing elimination. Danny was later announced as the winner of the season, after beating Cheddar Gorgeous in the final.<\/p>\n Following their success on Drag Race, Danny has made appearances on Hollyoaks<\/a>, The Traitors: Uncloaked, and temporarily hosted their own mid-morning show on BBC<\/a> Radio 1.<\/p>\n Danny has previously opened up about his traumatic upbringing<\/a>. Speaking to head judge RuPaul alongside Michelle Visage, they said: \u201cWhen I was younger, I was really bullied. I just wasn\u2019t me.<\/p>\n “In year eight, I\u2019m not sure how old you are (then), but this guy made knuckle dusters with pins and cut my face up. My mum and dad moved me from Liverpool to the Wirral<\/a> and my mum sat me down and said \u2018This is a fresh start, you can be anyone and anything you want to be now\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n The performer went on to explain <\/a>how they took it as an opportunity to start living life as their true authentic self. They added: \u201cI went into school in year nine and the first kid that said to me \u2018Hey are you gay?\u2019, I went \u2018Yeah, and what?\u2019 and that’s where my confidence started to grow and not being afraid to be flamboyant.\u201d<\/p>\n Last year, the Scouse drag queen returned to the city <\/a>with their new show, Straight Expectations.
