{"id":351067,"date":"2025-08-17T06:52:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-17T06:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/351067\/"},"modified":"2025-08-17T06:52:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-17T06:52:10","slug":"france-rejects-idea-of-ukraines-demilitarisation-backs-stronger-armed-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/351067\/","title":{"rendered":"France rejects idea of Ukraine\u2019s demilitarisation, backs stronger armed forces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>17 August 2025 10:02<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"151\" data-end=\"401\"><strong>France has dismissed proposals for Ukraine\u2019s demilitarisation, arguing that strengthening Kyiv\u2019s military is a key element of security guarantees, French Minister for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad said in an interview with French <a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219);\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latribune.fr\/la-tribune-dimanche\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"403\" data-end=\"519\">Haddad said any future peace agreement must include \u201cclear and reliable\u201d security guarantees for Ukraine, per\u00a0<strong><a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219);\" href=\"https:\/\/caliber.az\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caliber.Az<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"521\" data-end=\"834\">The minister also announced plans to visit Ukraine in September to discuss the country\u2019s EU accession process. \u201cParis is supporting Kyiv on this path. In September I will travel to Ukraine to continue our consultations. The task is to begin the first phase of negotiations as soon as possible,\u201d Haddad stressed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"1044\">He underlined that Ukraine has the sovereign right to choose its alliances and political direction. \u201cWhether it is the European Union or NATO, Russia cannot veto Ukraine\u2019s future political course,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1046\" data-end=\"1332\">Haddad further noted that as part of ongoing discussions on security guarantees, a \u201ccoalition of the willing\u201d is considering deploying military contingents to Ukraine.
