The area has lost a lot of its original architecture.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;These buildings should be protected. If they all disappear, everyone will regret it.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>(Image: Pia Opp)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The 40-year-old campaigner recalled the stories his mother would tell about the building in its heyday, as a bustling travel hub with a beautiful exterior and concierges.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He added: &#8220;They used to take your trolleys and your luggage down the steps onto this platform.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  &#8220;I like to visualise that in my head.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  But now, the C-listed red brick building has been &#8220;left to rot&#8221;,\u00a0with broken windows and graffiti.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>(Image: Robert Perry)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  It is owned by Scotsman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heraldscotland.com\/topics\/property\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Property<\/a>\u00a0Ltd, based in Glasgow but there are no recent planning applications\u00a0for it.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The site has not been used as a railway station for 60 years and has been empty since the 1990s, when it closed as a bookmaker&#8217;s.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  Glasgow MSP Paul Sweeney has been campaigning to bring it back into use for around seven years.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  The politician said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgowtimes.co.uk\/topics\/glasgow-city-council\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow City Council<\/a> should step in and force the owner to sell the property.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  <img   style=\"width: 100%;\"\/>Paul Sweeney (Image: Newsquest)\n<\/p>\n<p>\n  He continued: &#8220;I&#8217;m frustrated that this continues to linger.
